Popular art tour returning following city endorsement

By Rosalind Russell – One of the North Shore’s most popular events, the Arts on the Trail, will be returning thanks to the endorsement and support of the City of Elliot Lake.

The city’s director of recreation and culture Kari Kluke, says the recreation and culture committee recommended that council not only act as a sponsor, but donate $3,000 towards the event and allow access to the Collins Hall as one of the venues.

The event featured anywhere up to 50 artists at different locations throughout the North Shore from Blind River, east to Spanish and north up Vimy Ridge Way – Highway 108 to the city.

She says it was usually held the last Saturday in September with the change of the fall colours providing visitors with a picturesque drive while they take in the different venues.

Council unanimously supported the recommendation and staff will now begin the work to attract various artists and set up the various venues for art lovers taking in the event.
