Rebuilding a drag car with a bit of help

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola High School’s Hot Rod Club has received a bit of financial help from the Espanola Lions Club.

Teacher Chad Petrenko formed the Hot Rod Club at the school and the students are rebuilding a 1968 Pontiac Firebird drag car.

Once it is rebuilt, it will be raced at events across Ontario to highlight the community and school initiative.

To that end, several individuals and businesses across the North Shore have donated parts to help with the rebuild.

Last week, the Espanola Lions Club donated $3,000 towards the project, which is expected to be completed soon.
