By Rosalind Russell – A First Nation and a North Shore community have both passed motions for pilot projects on a condensed work week.
Sheshegwaning First Nation on Manitoulin Island and the Town of Espanola have both agreed to test out the pilot projects.
Espanola’s will be a bit different with the town staff being divided into two groups with Group A working Monday to Thursday and Group B Tuesday to Friday making sure staff is available throughout the business week.
Hours of operation in Espanola will also be extended with the pilot project running from July 3rd to September 1st.
The First Nation project begins on July 3rd and runs until October 23 with extended hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and closed on Fridays.
At the end of the trial periods, reports will go to the respective councils for review and a final decision on whether to adopt the time schedules permanently.
