By Rosalind Russell – Residents of the four LaCloche Foothills areas are being asked to take part in a public survey on regional transportation as it relates to seniors and others with medical needs.
Susanne Cassidy, the Community Health Navigator says the Town of Espanola, in collaboration with the Townships of Sables-Spanish Rivers, Baldwin, and Nairn-Hyman, is considering a transportation project that would provide bus service to seniors 55 years and older to access medical appointments in Espanola or Sudbury.
She says the project is dependent on funding from a government grant.
A survey was done last year to see if there was interest in such a service.
Cassidy adds this survey is to help the municipalities gain an understanding of the needs of the community regarding scheduling a medical transportation van.
She says the surveys will be mailed out and should be returned by the deadline of August 15th to either individual municipal offices or to herself at the Espanola Regional Hospital.
