By Rosalind Russell – Several dozen children are enjoying their new bikes, compliments of a district-wide program that took place this weekend.
The LaCloche Foothills Region’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan brought together donated bicycles from all four member communities, the townships of Nairn & Hyman, Sables-Spanish Rivers, and Baldwin, and the Town of Espanola yesterday to distribute for free.
The gathering was overseen by two bike companies, the Sessions Ride Company, and the Rolling Circus.
With the success of the initial distribution there is now some discussion about hosting another in other member municipalities, as well as bike rodeos for children to learn about bike safety and laws.
