Cambrian College new spots for Paramedic program

By Rosalind Russell – Cambrian College is increasing the number of students it will accept into its Paramedic program with 40 new spots as part of an effort to boost the number of paramedics in the province.

June Raymond, the dean of Cambrian’s School of Health Sciences and Emergency Services says last month, the Ontario government announced it will fund more than 300 additional spots in paramedic programs at 14 of Ontario’s public colleges, including Cambrian.

She says 20 spaces will be added to the September intake adding to accommodate the other 20 spots, Cambrian is introducing a first-ever, one-time intake of new students in the 2024 winter term, starting in January.

Raymond adds in addition to offering a two-year Paramedic program, Cambrian also offers a one-year Advanced Care Paramedic graduate certificate for students who have already earned a Paramedic diploma.
