School’s out but EHS students are on the move with their Trans Am

By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola High School Chariots Drag-race Team has had some adventures this summer.

According to the release, two weekends ago Elfira, their 1983 Trans Am, made its first passes of the summer at Luskville Dragway in Quebec.

While getting the bugs out, the car didn’t perform quite as well as expected and they came home with a broken motor.

Jim Bosse and Vic Deline of Espanola donated another one and this weekend, they ran the car at the bracket race at Bonfield Event Park.

They did not place but the car finished with a best time on Sunday of 7.88 seconds in the 8th mile.

Several businesses have supported the team over the year getting the car prepped for the race season.
