By Rosalind Russell – A well-known Whitefish Falls man and Grand Master of Martial Arts has passed away.
Yogi Israel Segarra was well known in the local area and around the world for his skills in martial arts.
He and his wife, Alice, met, married, and taught Yoga, Goju, and other related skills to many people of all ages over the last 40 plus years in the U.S and Canada.
He and his wife have been inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame twice and received countless other accolades over the decades.
Besides the training, the two hosted international martial arts tournaments for over 20 years.
Israel was born in Puerto Rico, and Alice in Manhattan, eventually immigrating and making Whitefish Falls there home.
He was 76.
