By Rosalind Russell – Officially, there are still days left in the summer, but Cambrian College is looking ahead to the start of the fall semester.

Students, faculty, and employees are getting ready for the start of classes in September at northeastern Ontario’s largest college says Cambrian President Kristin Morrissey.

She adds this will be her first fall orientation as president, and she cannot wait to welcome new and returning students with Fall Orientation taking place now until September 8th.

Morrissey says students will learn what services are available on campus and in the community, meet college staff and faculty, and socialize with their fellow students, adding for international students, it is also an opportunity to set up necessary services for living in Canada, such as banking, health care and children’s services.

Events during Fall Orientation include:

• International Student In-person Orientation, August 30

• Community Services Fair, August 31

• Virtual “Ask Me” Desk, August 28-September 8

• In-person “Ask Me” Desk, September 5-8

• Meet & Greet Carnival, September 6

• Student Services Fair, September 7

“We are a 12-month college now, but for most of our students, September marks the traditional start of their school year, so we like to bring a lot of energy to the start of the fall term,” added Morrissey. “It is great to have our halls filled with students, staff, and faculty. One of our strongest features is the community atmosphere we have created here at Cambrian. We believe that the on-campus experience is so important to the culture we’ve created here, which is why start-up is so important to set the tone for the year.”
