Ryleigh’s Ride in Memory of Johnny raises thousands for Sick Kids

By Rosalind Russell – The annual Ryleigh’s Ride from Sudbury to Little Current and back again has had another successful year.

Kerri Chevrier says there were 100 riders and passengers who took part in the rally this year.

She says with their support, they raised $6,000, bringing their five-year total to over $25,000 for Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital.

Chevrier, says the ride was started after her daughter, Ryleigh, spent the first three months of her life at SickKids and who will now be a SickKids outpatient until she is 18.

She adds Ryleigh’s father and her former partner Johnny Valcourt wanted to give back to the hospital, so he came up with the idea for the ride.

He passed away following a motorcycle accident in May of 2021, so the ride is now dedicated to both him and his daughter.
