Poppy Flag raised in Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – Like their counterparts across Canada, members of the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39, raised the Poppy Flag to honour veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to serve.

Legion Poppy Chair, Dan Krysanowski was joined by municipal staff including Mayor Doug Gervais and Deputy Mayor Angela Kelly in raising the flag yesterday morning at the municipal hall.

November first always marks the beginning of the Poppy Campaign, which raised money for local veterans and their families along with local charities and for Remembrance initiatives.

The Poppy Campaign, which Krysanowski oversees as chair, is now officially underway with Legion members and volunteers having them available at local businesses throughout town.
