By Rosalind Russell – The Town of Espanola has officially put into place a mass notification system for emergencies to alert the citizens of Espanola and the surrounding area.
Town Clerk Joseph Burke says the town has signed an agreement with a company called Everbridge, and through the system they have in place, the town is now able to send out emergency notifications to the public to alert them quickly if an emergency occurs.
He says it can also be used for general notifications for such things as road closures.
Burke adds Espanola residents must sign up to be able to receive these notifications with information on the process being released soon.
He adds the system also works with landlines.
Burke says there will be an information session the first week of December at the library for those who require assistance with setting themselves up with the service.
