New chief elected in Thessalon First Nation

By Rosalind Russell – A new Chief has been elected as Chief of Thessalon First Nation.

Joseph Wabigwan was elected chief in the election held earlier this month defeating former chief Edward Boulrice by a margin of 64 votes in a four-way race to lead the First Nation west of Blind River.

Boulrice had previously served two consecutive terms.

The band council is rounded out by Lisa Boulrice, Roxanne Boulrice, Mary Ann Giguere , Robert Simon Sr. and Robert Simon Jr.
