(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid 83 impaired driving charges since January 1, 2023.
On November 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., the Manitoulin OPP responded to a call of a suspicious person at a rest area on Panache Lake Road.
Upon arrival, police located the person sitting in a vehicle at the rest area. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Steven HANSSON, 70-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 15, 2024.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
