Capital projects approved at Algoma District School Board Meeting for $65 million 

By Rosalind Russell – At this week’s board meeting, the Algoma District School Board approved proceeding with the 2023-2024 Capital Projects, to the tune of $65 million. 

Officials say currently, total projects for potential award to contractors in 2023-24 amount to approximately $15 million at ten different schools administered by the board. 

One of those projects is the overhaul of the courtyard, stairs, and handrail at Elliot Lake Secondary School. 
As well, the board received separate capital priority approval from the Ministry of Education of approximately $50.5 million to build a new JK to 12 school in Blind River.  

The board will now proceed to the tendering process for the various projects throughout the district.
