Sault Rotary supports Algoma District School Board

By Rosalind Russell – For 15 years, the Sault North Rotary Club has conducted its “Trip of the Month” fundraiser and donated some proceeds to the Algoma District School Board.

Last Thursday, Algoma District School Board’s Chair Jennifer Sarlo and Director of Education Lucia Reece accepted the donation from Neil McLean, President, Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie North.

Sarlo says the donation of $16,000 will support the purchase of healthy food options throughout their schools including Elliot Lake.

Reece adds studies have shown that children whose nutritional needs are met have fewer attendance and discipline problems, and their ability to learn is enhanced.
