Elliot Lake appoints interim CAO

By Rosalind Russell – Before celebrating the holiday, Elliot Lake council met for a special meeting to appoint an interim chief administrative officer.

Effective today, the council has appointed Rob deBortoli to fill the vacancy.

DeBortoli has served as city CAO in the past.

Acting Mayor Andrew Wannan says the city has come to an agreement with deBortoli following lengthy discussions to fill the vacancy left by the removal of Dan Gagnon from the position late last spring.

Wannan did not make a statement on why Gagnon was removed from the position.

In an April 26 news release, the city said it had “parted ways” with Gagnon, who had been relieved of his duties at that time.

Wannan also extended thanks on behalf of council to acting CAOs, Natalie Bray and Amy Sonnenburg.

The search for a permanent CAO will continue this year.
