Algoma Public Health declares long-term care outbreak over

By Rosalind Russell – St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake has resumed its normal visitor’s policy at a long-term home.

Yesterday, Algoma Public Health declared that a gastrointestinal outbreak at the city’s long-term care home is over and hospital CEO Jeremy Stevenson says the visitation policy will return to normal.

He adds while the situation is now under control, they ask the public to continue using precautionary measures when visiting the institution.

The outbreak had been declared early last week.
