Outbreaks declared over in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – Algoma Public Health has declared the end of two viral outbreaks at Elliot Lake institutions.

St. Joseph’s Hospital CEO Jeremy Stevenson says the health unit has declared two outbreaks over, one at the hospital, the other at the long-term care facility.

He says the gastrointestinal outbreak was declared over at St. Joseph’s Manor on Monday, while the flu outbreak on the hospital’s third floor was declared over late last week.

Stevenson asks for the public to remain vigilant though when it comes to visitation at either facility including considering wearing a mask, washing hands, and staying away if feeling symptoms of an illness.  Photo: An outbreak at St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake has been declared over, and another at the local long-term facility overseen by the hospital.  Photo provided.
