Blind River student Meghan Raddon captures gold medal from Royal Conservatory of Music

By Rosalind Russell – Meghan Raddon, a Grade 12 student at École Secondaire Catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River, recently won a gold medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music after achieving the best results in Canada in the Level 7 singing exam.

She says in this practical examination, she sang four pieces of music: one in Italian, one in German, a musical comedy and a contemporary song in English and was also tested on various vocal techniques, ear training, rhythm, and sight-reading.

The young singer has been taking professional singing lessons with the Algoma Conservatory of Music in Sault Ste. Marie since only 2020.

Raddon adds she is also a member of the ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord school band La Volée du Nord and intends to pursue her passion for singing by starting a Bachelor of Music in September.
