Emergency preparedness focus of Espanola corporate meeting

By Rosalind Russell – There is a Corporate Services meeting in Espanola this evening where committee members will be discussing various initiatives.

Louisa Orford, Espanola’s Economic Development Officer, and Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor, are exploring the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant for project options relating to Municipal Emergency Preparedness.

The pair also launched the Everbridge Resident Alerts app in December and hosted in-person registration sessions.

She reports the first public alert was a winter storm notice sent in January.

She adds a test of the public alert system will be scheduled for May during Emergency Preparedness Week.
