Public comment sought on safety booms for local dams

By Rosalind Russell – Vale says it has made submissions to the Navigable Waters Registry for new safety booms and relocation of others on five local dams on the Spanish and Vermillion rivers.

According to the company, public comment is being sought on the five: Big Eddy,

High Falls 1 and 2, Nairn Falls and Wabagishik.

The company has undertaken safety assessments on all five to improve safety measures already in place.

The equipment is required under legislation with portages also available.

Public comment is required since the dams are located on navigable waters.
