LCBO talks begin today

By Rosalind Russell – The union representing Ontario liquor store employees is warning Premier Ford to stop the sell-off of the LCBO as the two sides begin bargaining talks today.

Yesterday, rallies were held outside Conservative MPPs’ offices in eleven cities this morning.

The Ontario Public Services Employees Union also displayed a petition signed by seven thousand of its members.

The union is reacting to the Ford announcement in December… of more availability of beer, wine, cider and ready-to-drink cocktails in big box grocery stores and gas stations.

It says it doesn’t want the two-and-a-half-billion dollars in LCBO revenue to go to the pockets of grocery store CEOs.
