By Rosalind Russell – As the calendar switches over to April, Ontario is now officially in forest fire season.
By law, you’ll need a fire permit to burn wood, brush, leaves, and grass outside until the end of October.
According to the province, over 740 wildland fires burned in Ontario, affecting over 441,000 hectares. That’s three times as many as the 10-year average.
Over 7,100 fires burned across the country.
