By Rosalind Russell – Starting in October 2024, Carrefour Options+Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, will offer the Personal Support Worker program in Sudbury.
According to education director, Paul Henry, it is offered to students 18 years of age and older and will allow those interested in becoming a PSW to be trained in French providing care to the wider public.
He adds students admitted to the program will benefit from theoretical and practical training before undertaking three practical internships.
Students will not be required to pay the tuition fees of the theoretical component of the program and will be paid during certain placements.
Students aged 18 who obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma or adults who completed grade 10, the equivalent of 16 credits, are eligible for the program.
This PSW program will provide caregivers with the essential knowledge, skills, techniques, and abilities associated with this job field.
