Return of northern rail service moving ahead

By Rosalind Russell – Work on new train shelters will start this summer ahead of Northlander passenger rail service returning in 2026.

An announcement was made last Friday in Bracebridge that three contracts have been awarded to design and manufacture nine station shelters, enhance rail safety, and complete warning system upgrades

Associate Minister of Transportation Vijay Thanigasalam says this is an important step in connecting Ontarians.

Once the service returns in two years, it will take passengers from Timmins to Toronto with several stops in between for northeastern travellers.
