Massey Agricultural Society works with students for community garden

By Rosalind Russell – The work is well underway for a community garden in Massey and students are also doing their part.

Yesterday, students from the three local schools, R.H. Murray, L’ecole Ste. Anne, and St. Mary’s Catholic School met with members of the Massey Agricultural Society to help with the planting.

These students worked hard to grow seedlings to plant in the community garden and had the opportunity to learn, not only gardening, but also some Indigenous teachings.

Following the work, the planting was blessed with an earth ceremony and tobacco offering from a local elder, Juanita McNichol and two drummers, Dale Eshkakogan and Terrence McNichol.
