Giant Hogweed can be lif-changing – don’t touch it!

By Rosalind Russell – The City of Elliot Lake is warning its residents to keep an eye out for Giant Hogweed, an invasive plant that can cause major blisters and scarring if touched.

According to the release, contact with the plant, which features white, large blooms, and a poisonous, clear sap can cause severe skin rashes, burning blisters and long-lasting scars. 

The public is being warned not to touch it and contact the Public Works office so that it can be disposed of properly.

Call the Public Works office at 705-915-0357 for more information, inspection and/or disposal.
