Third Annual Heart of Gold Radiothon kicked off for September

By Rosalind Russell – A Manitoulin Island business has assisted (sister station) Moose 99.3FM – Espanola to officially launch the Third Annual Heart of Gold Radiothon Campaign to raise funds for families of children with cancer.

Adam Smith, the owner of Jake’s Home Centre in Mindemoya and Little Current on Manitoulin Island, has donated two Weber table-top barbecues to raise funds for the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

Smith says giving back to the wider community is a big part of his life, especially when supporting children, and the life-changing health challenges some of them face.

Donors who contribute to the radiothon will be entered into the draw for one of the barbecues, while the second will be part of the NOFCC Gold Soiree, also in September.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month across the country with the Moose raising over $15,000 in its first two radiothons with this year’s slated for Friday, September 20th.

To make a donation, e-transfer to rrussell@moosefm.com . All donations will be sent a confirmation and any donations over $20 will receive an official receipt from the NOFCC for income tax purposes. Include name, phone number and email address in the message portion of your e-transfer.
