Even aunties have Olympic dreams

By Rosalind Russell – A proud auntie will be cheering on her nephew, not in one, but three disciplines at the games in Paris.

Mijou Pelletier says she is proud that her 20-year-old nephew Alex Baldoni is representing Canada in three disciplines at the summer games in canoe slalom, kayak cross and kayak.

She says Alex lives and trains in France and has dual citizenship as his mother, her sister, hails originally from Sault Ste. Marie with the family also having close ties to Manitoulin Island.

He is one of five local area athletes taking on the competition.

Syla Swords, Cloé Lacasse, Jill Gougeon-Irving, and Lance Cryderman, all hailing from Sudbury, will also represent the North.
