55th Haweater Weekend set to go

By Rosalind Russell – Haweater Weekend starts today.

This year, the Hawfest will be 55 years young and according to Little Current Lions Club President and co-chair, Bruce Burnett, it will be bigger and better thanks to the volunteers who come together to provide three days of celebrating summer.

He is assisted by Lion Lori-Draper adding the club meets throughout the year, setting up events and finalizing the schedule.

He says this year’s theme is Alo-Haw with the design created by Emerson Brewer-Case, so he expects plenty of colour.

It kicks off today with the Carver Kings and tomorrow, Little Current’s downtown will be blocked off for entertainment, vendors, parades, skills competitions, family fun, and music capped off with fireworks on Sunday.
