Fednor funding for women who want to open their own business

By Rosalind Russell – Fednor is providing funding for women who want to open their own business.

While in Gore Bay yesterday afternoon, Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré, announced a Government of Canada investment of $999,620 for LAMBAC (LaCloche Manitoulin Business Assistance Corporation (LAMBAC)) to deliver the Northern Ontario Women Program across Northern Ontario.

Officials say the program provides a maximum of $5,000 to women-owned and women-led small businesses to help cover the cost of professional and training services so they can start-up or take their businesses to the next level.

Following the announcement, Serre also toured some local businesses including the Split Rail Brewing Company owned by Andrea Smith & Eleanor Charlton who began brewing in a garage in 2010 and opened Manitoulin Island’s first craft brewery in 2015 in Gore Bay.

The announcement was made on behalf of Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
