Espanola council to declare Drug Awareness Month 

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola council will meet tonight to declare Drug Awareness Month in Espanola. 

The Espanola & Area Epidemic Overdose Awareness Committee is asking council to proclaim Drug Awareness Day in Espanola on August 31st. 

The committee is also asking council to raise the flag for the remainder of the month and to attend the Third Annual Drug Awareness Walk on August 31st, the internationally recognized day to bring the crisis to the forefront. 

The walk is a family-oriented walk that will start at 11 am at the Noojmowin Teg Centre on Highway Six – Second Avenue and make its way to the Red McCarthy Ballfields for a community barbecue, keynote speakers and booths focusing on local services to help those affected by overdose.
