Espanola council supporting Drug Overdose Awareness Day 

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola council has given its approval to declare Drug Overdose Awareness Day on August 31st. 

The Espanola & Area Epidemic Overdose Committee asked council to consider an official proclamation, and to allow the official flag to be raised at the municipal office. 

Council gave its approval, and the flag will be raised this morning at 11:30 pm. 

They also endorsed the Third Annual Drug Awareness Walk that will take place on August 31st at 11 am, with the walk starting from the Noojmowin Teg centre to the Red McCarthy Ballfields with a barbecue, keynote speakers and booths set up for the public. 

The event is free to everyone, and any donations will go to the Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank.
