By Rosalind Russell – Greater Sudbury Police are looking for a group of teens following a rock throwing incident that caused a motorcycle mishap.
Staff Sargeant Darren Heffern says on Wednesday, the police received 911 calls reporting that a group of teens were throwing rocks onto Maley Drive from a large rock cut.
He says while the complaints were coming in, a motor vehicle collision was reported involving a west bound motorcycle that lost control and entered the ditch.
He says the investigation revealed that there were numerous rocks and small boulders on the roadway in the exact area where the MVC took place and witnesses believe that the operator of the motorcycle was in fact struck with a rock causing the collision.
Heffern says the operator of the motorcycle received significant injuries because of the incident and was transported to Health Sciences North for treatment.
He adds the youths responsible for throwing the rocks have not been identified with witnesses describing two of them as male, one with shoulder length red hair and freckles wearing a black hoody and black jogging pants, the other wearing a white or grey hoody on.
The matter is still under investigation.
