By Rosalind Russell – CSC Nouvelon student trustees are looking forward to representing students during the upcoming school year.
Officials say this year, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will benefit from the dedication of two student trustees who will serve as student representatives for the Board as well as the Student Senate.
Education director Paul E. Henry says Mélanie Denis-Plante, a grade 12 student at École secondaire catholique l’Horizon in Val Caron, and Lydia Raddon, a grade 11 student at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River have been named as this year’s trustees.
He says Denis-Laplante sits on the student parliament, is editor of the student newspaper, sits on the Fédération de la jeunesse franco-ontarienne as well as organizes events throughout the year.
As for Raddon he says she stands out for her leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities, is part of the school’s radio station, and is also involved with writing for the newspaper and organizing events.
Henry says the two will be sworn in on September 23rd at the next regular meeting of the board.
