Maintenance Manager Mark Bedard and his staff at the Espanola Hospital and Health Centre donated 2 senior busy boards to Long Term Care Director Tamara Beam. The busy boards are designed with seniors in mind and invite the user to reinforce fine motor skills and cognitive abilities. The various items located on the boards offer a level of engagement and accomplishment for long term care residents with various levels of dementia. The tactile and independent experience for the user can help alleviate stress and anxiety and if the implementation is successful the Maintenance Dept. will purchase more of these busy boards for Long Term Care residents. These particular boards were presented in memory of retired Espanola Firefighter Mr. Carl Bouchard who passed away in April of 2024.
