By Rosalind Russell – The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board project for a new ten-unit building in Espanola is moving forward on schedule.
According to the DSSAB, the single-level, 10-unit building being built at the intersection of Queensway Avenue and Mead Boulevard is expected to be completed next year.
The social service has a waiting list of 270 individuals and/or families: 127 applicants are looking for a one-bedroom, 60 are looking for two bedrooms, 46 are looking for three bedrooms, and 37 are looking for a four-bedroom home.
This build will be directed towards at-risk individuals, regardless of their age.
The building will exclusively have one-bedroom apartments and be owned and operated as geared-to-income housing by the agency.
