By Rosalind Russell – Grade 8 students from École Saint-Joseph in Blind River are doing their best to help with regreening in town.
Earlier this week, the students were accompanied by municipal employees to participate in the Town of Blind River’s mission to plant more trees in the community.
Most of the planting took place at Boom Camp, a natural outdoor area providing walking trails and rest areas for residents and tourists alike.
Karen Bittner, the Director of Facilities and Community Services, also shared with the students the importance of planting saplings and the role they play in the ecosystem.
She also challenged the students to track down locations where animals might use for shelter during the winter months, as part of their science programming out of the school.
