By Rosalind Russell – A tentative agreement was reached on October 25, 2024 between the union representing occasional teachers (Association des enseignantes et enseignants franco-ontariens de l’Ontario – suppléants du Nord-Ouest publique) and the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord.
According to Board Chair Anne-Marie Gélineault the board wants supply teachers to be happy, so that they can continue to provide students with a stimulating learning environment and contribute to the success of all their schools.
She says the bargaining committees representing qualified elementary and secondary occasional teachers and the board have agreed to a 4-year tentative agreement retroactive to September 1, 2022.
Gelineault adds ratification is expected within the next few weeks.
