More financial assistance for veterans

By Rosalind Russell – The province is increasing the financial assistance available to veterans and their families.

Though the Soldiers’ Aid Commission, eligible veterans and their family will be able to receive up to $3,000 each year to help pay for services and supports.

That’s an increase of a thousand dollars a year.

The commission helps pay for things like glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, home repairs and more – as well as personal items.

The province says Ontario is home to nearly 150,000 veterans with the number growing by the thousands every year.
