Extensive ground search carried out in M’Chigeeng for missing woman

By Rosalind Russell – The United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Police and the OPP Emergency Response Team carried out a search for a missing woman in a Manitoulin Island community yesterday.

UCCM Police Chief James Killen says the two partnered to carry out an extensive search throughout the home community of Juanita Migwans of M’Chigeeng First Nation who has been missing for over a month.

There was a heavy police presence throughout the day doing intensive ground grid searches and in residential and build-up areas throughout the community asking for the public to avoid areas where personnel were searching.

He adds the police services have been following up on all leads and anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service.

Thirty-year-old Juanita Migwans went missing on the evening of October 2nd while walking down a local road in the community.
