Centennial Arena costs estimated at $11 million … so far

By Rosalind Russell – The repair work at the Centennial Arena has surpassed $10 million.

Interim CAO Rob deBortoli announced the financial impact sits at around $11-million-dollar mark in response to a councillor’s inquiry.

He says around $9.4 million of that has been spent on repairs including structural repairs and the footings with another $1.5 million allocated for the roof replacement and sprinkler system, but he expects more costs to follow.

He stresses there are still outstanding items, and those expenses are yet to be determined.

deBortoli did not provide a timeline as to when the work will be finished.

The arena was closed last year after several structural deficiencies were found in the building, which was constructed back in 1967.
