By Rosalind Russell – Operation Deterrence.
That’s the name of the province’s latest preparedness and planning framework for enhanced security at international borders in tackling criminal activity.
Premier Doug Ford says Ontario has been calling on the feds to step up and address safety and security concerns at the border.
In the meantime, he says Operation Deterrence will crack down on illegal border crossings and illegal guns and drugs.
The province says the OPP has conducted more than 6,000 hours of focused patrols since early December and will continue to do so.
The operation is also in partnership with the R C M P and focuses on the 14 border crossings in Ontario.
