By Rosalind Russell – The NDP Member of Parliament for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing expects that spring might be the time for a Federal Election.
Carol Hughes says when the House of Commons resumes March 24 it will include a throne speech and perhaps a confidence vote.
Hughes Spring Election 1
“It’s just a matter of time before we were going into an election so we are probably looking at a May 5 to May 12th date around that time when the actual election would be so that’s to be seen.
We always say it’s never a good time to be going into an election.”
Hughes believes it doesn’t matter who the new liberal leader is because their tenure as interim prime minister will be short.
The veteran MP has announced she will be retiring from politics after more than 16 years.
She wants to spend more time with her family.
