Maintenance high priority for Huron Shores during bridge closure

By Rosalind Russell – The Municipality of Huron Shores says they are ensuring the alternate route is maintained properly while council deals with structural problems with a recently closed bridge.

According to the release, the municipal office understands there are concerns regarding the backroad detour route now being used due to the closure of the Dean Lake Bridge.

They state the safety and accessibility of the alternate route are a top priority adding the Public Works team is actively monitoring the condition of the detour route and will ensure it is maintained to accommodate increased traffic.

The municipality understands while this route has always received regular maintenance, they recognize the alternate route from highway 17 using Eley Road gets increased usage requiring additional attention to meet the needs of all road users.

They are also asking users to allow for extra time for their commute due to the detour.

Council will be meeting soon to discuss the condition of the road and decide what they will do to remediate the closure of the bridge.
