By Rosalind Russell – Rob deBortoli, the interim CAO of the City of Elliot Lake, asked council for approval to spend money on finding his replacement last night, but council deferred it.
He says when he joined the team a little over a year ago, part of his mandate was to lead the search for a full-time permanent CAO.
Back in October, council approved hiring the firm Odgers-Berndston to conduct a search for the positions of Director of Finance and Director of Public Works, so he recommended to council that they add the CAO search to their scope of work for around $40,000, which would come out of the Human Resources budget.
However, Mayor Andrew Wannan told council some new information had come in, he did not provide details, so he recommended the matter be deferred until the next meeting which council approved unanimously.
