NOSM seeking applicants for summer studentship program

By Rosalind Russell – The Northern Ontario School of Medicine University is once again seeking applications from healthcare agencies for its summer studentship program.

According to the release, businesses and agencies involved in health care can apply for funding to help subsidize the cost of hiring summer students from the medical school.

Applications to NOSM University’s Summer Studentship Program are open from February 1st to 15th.

The program, which is funded by the Ministry of Health, is run by NOSM University to help Northern Ontario health-care partners recruit various allied health services professionals while providing invaluable, paid workplace experience to interested learners.

This could include hospitals and clinics that typically offer summer employment in the months of May through to August.

NOSM U adds the program is open to a wide variety of learners in a wide range of regulated health professions.

Successful student applicants will be matched to healthcare agencies.

Before applying, students must review the program FAQs and meet all eligibility requirements. NOSM University may request additional information from applicants after the application period closes.

The selection of candidates, job duties, rate of pay, and duration of the employment contract are determined by the employing agency, said the release.
