By Rosalind Russell – The National Capital Commission has found the site for the national reconciliation monument.
According to the release, the Board of Directors has approved a site by the Ottawa River on Parliament Hill next to the West Block building.
A survivor-led steering committee, in collaboration with the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation and survivors, selected the site.
This monument will be a contemplative space to remember, honour, educate, heal, and reconcile with construction expected to begin in the Spring.
