By Rosalind Russell – A four-day conference, the Indigenous Lands Symposium 2025, focusing on forestry got underway in Sault Ste. Marie yesterday.
Shah Mohamed, the senior project manager with the organizer Wahkohtowin (Mee-yo wah-KOH-toh-win) Development, says there are over 280 people in attendance.
He says the gathering is a catalyst for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous partners to embrace innovation, collaboration, and culture within sustainable forestry.
He adds the week will be spent in sharing knowledge, stories, and strategies for reclaiming, protecting, and stewarding First Nation lands.
The conference runs until Friday.
